  • We believe Ethiopian coffees are entitled to have a special place in every coffee lover’s heart. They can be more like fruit juice or black tea than what we think of as coffee. Ethiopia has a huge range of flavour profiles depending on where the coffees are grown.

This specially sourced coffee comes from the washing station of Workeneh Tsegaye. The station is located in Bule Hora woreda (district) in West Guji zone of Oromia region. Typical smallholders can have a few trees in their garden from the local Heirloom variety.

The farmers deliver the coffee cherries to the washing station, where they are hands sorted before the washed process. Ripe cherries are processed using depulping machines to mechanically remove the skin, pulp and mucilage. They are then soaked in clean water before being dried on raised beds - which are tables with a mesh bottom that allows for air circulation during the drying cycle.

At Workeneh they believe that crafted the right combination of fermentation time and controlled drying time on the raised beds have allowed them to produce great coffee year after year.

In the cup, you can discover a deep aroma of white flowers and sweet, mellow apricot with a rich flavour of Earl Grey.
